Review & Giveaway: Canidae Pet Food

Om nom nom! I bet that's what was going through Jack's head when he had the opportunity to do a healthy, yummy review of Canidae pet food, thanks to Canidae and the Canidae RPO Blog.

I'm sure we all know about the nasties that can be found in a lot of commercial pet foods. However, if you know what to look for, you can find healthy pet food made by a trustworthy company and Canidae is one of those. See for yourself, directly from their website:

All CANIDAE® and FELIDAE® products are proudly made in the United States of America using the highest quality U.S. ingredients. All formulations are produced in USDA, FDA, and AAFCO approved facilities. The nutritionally dense fresh meats and meals we use originate from USDA inspected meats processed in a human grade facility. Our high quality grains, vegetables and fruits are from human grade producers. All CANIDAE and FELIDAE dry goods, cans and treats are naturally preserved. All of our commodities have undergone stringent testing procedures prior to going into any of our products, assuring safety and freshness for both your pets and ours.

They offer a decent variety of formulas for dogs who may have allergies to a specific protein source. They even have grain-free formulas; Jack got to taste the PureSEA formula which is made with salmon and potatoes. Jack loved it, and I loved that it didn't have a strong sea food odor. No fishy breath and no fishy smelling dog food bowl, unlike other brands. Jack licked his bowl clean every time; I think a bigger bag is on our shopping list next time we stop by our local retailer!

Most of the Canidae formulas are suitable for all life stages. No more switching from puppy, to adult, to senior formulas . If you have pets of different ages in your house, this is perfect. However, if you have an overweight or senior pet, Canidae Platinum is great as well.

There isn't as much of a variety in the Felidae formulas, however they do have grain free formulas and a senior/overweight-specific formula. Aside from Felidae Platinum, all of the formulas are designed for cats and kittens only.

But wait, that is not all! They offer delicious and healthy TidNips treats for dogs and for cats, and Snap-Bits and Snap-Biscuits for dogs. You won't find Canidae at national chain pet stores like Petsmart or Petco because they support small businesses. Even so, I have no trouble finding it in my neck of the woods - there are six stores within twenty miles that carry it. You can find out where your nearest retailer is here. Speaking of that whole purchasing aspect, I have yet another important topic to bring up. Canidae maintains quality while keeping their prices relatively low, compared to other brands of similar quality. Great for the pet parent on a budget!

Remember to visit the Canidae website and see where you can buy it; I'm sure your furkids would love to try it. While you're there, you can learn more about their ingredients and even use a calculator that tells you how much it costs to feed Canidae to your pet!

One last word: GIVEAWAY! You heard that right. I am giving away one coupon for a five pound bag of Canidae or Felidae, courtesy of Canidae. Giveaway ends on the 19th at 12:01 A.M. Winner will be announced later that day. Enter using the Rafflecopter form below: a Rafflecopter giveaway
